Roath is a vivid community and hosts many events throughout the year. The Great Roath Bake Off is one of the major events though and attracts people from all ages. Last year more than 100 cakes joined the competition. This year’s event is expected to be even bigger. The community spirit in Roath is always high and every effort is supported strongly by the locals.
I was lucky enough to be involved in last year’s Roath Bake Off and I definitely loved the experience. Plenty of cakes, who doesn’t love this, known and talented musicians, good people and a good cause. This what the Roath Bake Off is all about. I didn’t mention it so far but Roath Bake Off is a charity event and all the proceeds go to local charities.
The man behind the idea is Wayne Courtney, the Roath legend. Of course, nothing would have been achieved without the help of the locals. Wayne gladly accepted to talk about his expectations for the Roath Bake Off 2015. Here is a highlight of what he said :
[pull_quote_center]’We are very excited about this year’s Bake Off hoping to build on the success of previous years and hopefully raise lots of money for charity. So proud of what we have achieved with the Bake off in Roath, which continues to be an amazing community event.’[/pull_quote_center]
This year it will be hosted in St Andrew’s church on Wellfield Road on the 9th of May. Doors open at 10am and you only need to bake a cake and bring it before 1.30 pm. Save the date and bake a cake.
Hope to see you all there.
