You built your website with beautiful galleries, your business cards have arrived and you are surfing on the internet watching my videos. Wrong! Here is what you have to do next.
Even if you are the most talented photographer or the most talented in your profession , people wouldn’t know it. You need to communicate it to the world. When I first started, even my friends didn’t know it. I was lacking confidence, I was afraid their criticism, and all that fear was holding me back. Talk to people , share your dream. Not everyone will be excited, you can’t satisfy everyone anyway. Join networking clubs, talk about your work or what you want to do. There are other people who might want to collaborate in a common project or try your ideas. It can be a model or a start up business or someone who just like your personality. If you don’t ask you don’t get.
Join social media, I met on twitter many nice people willing to collaborate, I saw their tweets and send them a msg. Some didn’t reply. You should care only for the ones that replied. You may try some other times with ones that didn’t reply. People are busy as well. You shouldn’t be frustrated. Find something interesting or something funny to say, and be consistent.
Offer work for free to charity events. You can help the organisers with your photography and they’ll help you back by promoting you. It’s a mutual thing. In any case you’ll have the chance to meet new people, have a nice day out and talk about your work.
Be passionate about your photography and don’t let anyone take it from you. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t accept criticism or feedback. Just don’t give up. Go for it.
